Most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic – itself a product of
deteriorating environmental conditions – has revealed the sector’s global interconnectedness,
vulnerability, and exposure to risk. Today, governments are intent on building back hardhit tourism sectors because of the vital roles they play in many countries’ economies and in
